Why was Carol banished by Rick?

Carol was banished by Rick for killing two members of the group named Karen and David in order to prevent the spread of infection. Although it was a difficult decision, Rick knew that if the infection spread, it could easily wipe out the entire group.

In an effort to protect the others, he chose to banish Carol. It was a heartbreaking decision for Rick, as he had grown close to Carol over time. He wanted her to stay, but in the end, he knew that protecting the group was the only option.

Karen and David’s deaths would ultimately save hundreds of lives as the virus would not be able to spread and infect even more people. It’s possible that Carol could have had other intentions when killing the two people, but there was no way to know that at the time.

Ultimately, Rick decided that banishing Carol was the only option that made sense to protect the group and the community.

Why does Rick exile Carol?

Rick exiled Carol mainly due to a gradual breakdown of trust between the two characters. In the beginning of their relationship, Rick trusted Carol and believed she was an upstanding and trustworthy part of their group.

However, it eventually became clear to him that Carol had broken his rules in a few ways.

To begin, even as early as Season 1, Carol was not following Rick’s orders when it came to killing potential survivors. Although he did not know this at first, her disregard of his orders began to make him question her dedication to their group.

As the series progressed, Rick began to find out that Carol had been killing Walkers to prevent them becoming harder to kill, breaking his orders and the trust he had built up with her.

In addition, Carol’s willingness to go behind Rick’s back and take matters into her own hands contributed to his decision to exile her. This culminated in an incident between Carol and Lizzie, where Carol killed Lizzie to prevent Lizzie from hurting a pinned down Judith.

Although Rick had previously decided not to vote her out of the group, he was able to establish beyond doubt that Carol was willing to take matters into her own hands without Rick’s approval. This unwillingness to bow to his authority was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and Rick decided that it was best to exile her.

Overall, Rick exiled Carol primarily due to a loss of trust between the two characters. Carol’s disregard of his orders, as well as her willingness to act without permission, led to the ultimate decision to remove her from the group.

Carol pretended to be weak in order to gain sympathy from her peers and other members of her work team. By portraying herself as less capable, she likely hoped to be given more help, guidance, and support.

It could also be that Carol had been struggling for some time and was reaching the end of her rope and felt like she had no other choice but to put on an act of helplessness in order to make her difficult situation somewhat more manageable.
