Are liquid eggs same as real eggs?

Liquid eggs are not exactly the same as real eggs as there is a difference in their handling and processing. Liquid eggs are basically eggs that have been cracked open, pasteurized, and then packaged in a carton to be sold. On the other hand, real eggs refer to eggs that are in their natural form, i.e., with shells on.

One of the primary differences between liquid eggs and real eggs is their shelf life. Liquid eggs can be stored in their cartons for up to 6 months without any risk of spoilage, whereas real eggs can only last for up to around 4-5 weeks before they start to go bad. This is because liquid eggs have been pasteurized, which kills off any harmful bacteria and extends their shelf life.

Another difference between the two is the way they are used in cooking. Real eggs can be used in a variety of different dishes, from scrambled eggs to egg salad sandwiches, and everything in between. Liquid eggs, on the other hand, are more commonly used in commercial kitchens and food processing plants for large-scale food production.

Although liquid eggs can be used in home cooking, they may not provide the same level of taste and texture that real eggs do.

In terms of nutrition, both liquid eggs and real eggs are good sources of protein, vitamins, and minerals. However, there are some differences in their nutritional content. Liquid eggs typically contain fewer calories, cholesterol, and fats than real eggs, but they may also contain added ingredients to help them maintain their liquid form, such as artificial colors, flavors, or thickeners.

Overall, while liquid eggs may be a convenient option for commercial kitchens or food processing plants, they are not the same as real eggs. Real eggs provide a more authentic taste and texture and are more versatile in their use in cooking. However, both have their own benefits and can be incorporated into a healthy and balanced diet.

Why does McDonald’s have 2 different eggs?

McDonald’s is renowned worldwide for its delicious breakfast options, and eggs are an integral part of it. The fast-food chain offers two types of eggs as part of its breakfast menu: folded eggs and round eggs. These two eggs differ significantly in texture, taste, and preparation method.

The primary reason behind offering two different types of eggs is to cater to different customer preferences. While some people enjoy the taste and texture of a folded egg, others prefer the classic round egg. McDonald’s ensures that it has something for everyone by offering two options. Another reason for offering two different types of eggs is to meet the varying nutritional needs of its customers. The nutritional value of folded eggs and round eggs is different. The folded egg contains fewer calories and fat than the round egg. Therefore, customers who are health-conscious or on a low-fat diet can opt for folded eggs.

Conversely, customers who prefer a more indulgent breakfast can go for the round egg.

The preparation method of these eggs is also significantly different. Folded eggs are prepared by whipping a beaten egg mixture and pouring it onto a hot griddle, where it’s cooked and folded into a desired shape. On the other hand, round eggs are made by cracking an egg into a round mold and cooking it.

This difference in preparation method leads to different textures for the eggs. Folded eggs have a denser and creamier texture, while round eggs are more fluffy and light.

Currently, McDonald’s is using a mix of cage-free and conventionally-sourced eggs depending on the region and supply availability. The company is committed to ensuring that all of their egg suppliers meet their Animal Welfare Guidelines, which are based on the Five Freedoms, a globally-accepted animal welfare standard.
